Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre, Scotland

Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre Exterior

Project details

16.67m x 8m training pool with an underwater movable floor, 25m six-lane swimming pool. Health suite with sauna and steam room.

Project role

Design and specification of the pool water treatment and movable floor; site monitoring of installation and commissioning.

At Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre, Fife, Independent water treatment plants are provided for each of the pools. This facilitates independent temperature control in each pool.

Circulation within the training pool takes account of the movable floor.

The water treatment system incorporates PAC flocculation, medium rate filtration on sand, photo-oxidation using ultraviolet, heating, pH control and residual disinfectant control using chlorine. VSDs control pump flows linked to an electronic flow meter. Full area movable floor in training pool provides a range of water depths for different training activities.
