It was great to work with Arup on another world class aquatic centre. Having worked with them on the London Aquatic Centre for 2012 Olympics we were delighted to be appointed as part of the UK Delivery Team for the Pan Am Games 2019 in Lima, Peru. Operating within extremely tight timescales, Devin specified the pool water treatment system and the pool tanks, using Revit 3D modelling. The Videna Aquatic Centre is Lima’s first Olympic size pool and has a stainless steel tank which greatly contributed to the fast turnaround of this development which took just 70 weeks from start to finish. The aquatic centre includes two 50m pools and a diving pool. Jamie Pendle, Senior Engineer with Arup summed it up perfectly, “through strong collaboration with all parties involved, the aquatics centre has been delivered in record time with appropriate size and capacity to facilitate a sustainable legacy after the Games”.
As the medal events start in the Aquatic Centre today, we wish all of the athletes the best of luck.
